Lucky Break Chocolate Bark — Let's Make A Home

For my New Year’s project, I thought we all needed something that might bring us some better luck this year. Tapping into some color psychology, I chose to use gold sanding sugar and gold sprinkle mixes to represent prosperity, optimism and wisdom. White Ghirardelli chocolate seemed like the right choice for a clean slate, or a blank canvas, for the path forward into 2022.

INGREDIENTS
16 oz Ghirardelli White Chocolate Chips
Gold Sanding Sugar
Gold Spinkle Mix
Gold and White Sugar Pearls

TOOLS
Parchment Paper
Sheet Pan
Spatula
Double Boiler

1) With a double boiler, slowly melt the white chocolate according to the directions on the label. Gently stir to work through the unmelted lumps.

2) Once fully melted, pour the chocolate the length of the sheet pan. Lift the sheet pan (evenly, so the parchment doesn’t slide) a couple of inches from the counter and drop it to release any air bubbles. You can do this a couple of times to work out the air should you have any.

3) While the chocolate is still warm, start adding your sanding sugar, sprinkles and pearls. Go wild, don’t worry about patterns or balance. Use all the chaotic and unpredictable energy of 2020, and apply it to this chocolate canvas!

4) Chill your masterpiece for approximately 30 minutes and allow the chocolate to harden and set.

5) Once the chocolate is hardened and still cold, break it up into small (or not so small) pieces. You can pick up the whole piece, angle it up and tap it with the hammer, or snap it by hand. Use whatever method is most cathartic. (If you are accident prone as I am, maybe just use your hands to break it. Let’s start this New Year without any injuries, ok?)

6) Protip: If you make really small pieces, you can eat a million of them, one at a time, all day, and it won’t feel as bad as eating several giant pieces.
